Our Senior Pastor

Bishop K. Jevon Chambers

Bishop K. Jevon Chambers is the Senior Pastor of the historic Mount Calvary Community Church (Omaha Nebraska) established by the Most Reverend Roy W. Johnson. He was born in Chicago Illinois to the union of Trustee Nathaniel and Gloria Chambers. Bishop Chambers received his formal education in the Archdiocese of Chicago, graduating from the historic Pope Leo XIII Catholic High School.

As a teenager, Bishop Chambers traveled the length and breadth of this country with His Grace, the Very Reverend Bishop Eugene Robinson, Founding Pastor of First Unity Cathedral (Chicago IL) as a “Boy Prophet”. In March of 1990 Bishop Chambers formally accepted his call into the ministry and preached his trial sermon at Body, Soul and Spirit Ministries (St. Martin’s Church of CHRIST), under the leadership of His Grace, the Very Reverend Bishop Dwayne R. Mason; later that year Bishop Chambers was added to the Body of CHRIST at the Temple of Saint Jude Spiritual Church of CHRIST (Detroit MI), under the leadership of his grandfather, the late Archbishop Arthur Leonard Posey, Jr.

August 1999, Bishop Chambers was installed as Senior Pastor of the Saint Matthew’s Temple Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ and served until he was called in January 2006 to serve as the Senior Episcopal Pastor of the Redeeming Church of Christ (Chicago IL/Hammond IN), alongside Apostle Paul A. Southerland, Senior Pastor Emeritus.

In July 2002 at the 77th Annual Congress of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of CHRIST, Inc., Bishop Chambers was designated to the episcopacy and was consecrated to the Sacred Office of Bishop on November 8, 2002, with unbroken authentic apostolic succession and served as Diocesan Prelate for the Third Episcopal Diocese as well as Bishop of Administration for the College of Bishops.

In December 2010, Bishop Chambers was affirmed as an Apostle by the Apostolic Empowerment Network by the Most Reverend Apostle Sylvester Paul Brinson, III, Governing Apostle Primus.

Most recently, as of September 4, 2019, Bishop Chambers accepted the call to serve as Senior Pastor of the historic Mount Calvary Community Church (Omaha Nebraska) a spiritual church where the community is in the heart of the church and the heart of the church is in the community, and is still running for JESUS, working for the Master; has established My Calvary Community Cares a community development corporation established to strengthen and provide a continuum of care that beings at each individual’s point of immediate need and set them on a path towards healing and wholeness. 

Additionally, Bishop Chambers is the Diocesan Prelate of the First Episcopal Diocese of the Metropolitan Spiritual Churches of CHRIST, Inc., and dually serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Notwithstanding his work within the church, Bishop Chambers proudly serves as CoChair of both the Political Action Committee and Health Committee of the Interdenominational Ministers Alliance of Omaha under the leadership of Pastor Portia Cavitt, President; and is a lifetime member of the NAACP.

Bishop Chambers is currently enrolled at The Pillar Seminary in pursuit of a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Contextual Leadership. Bishop Chambers shares his many accomplishments, dreams, and visions with Leading Lady Devara Jean-TaNai, sons De’Ante Edward, Branden Jevon and daughters Semaja Ashley-Renee, and London Alexandria-Michelle and their ten grandchildren.
